The Elk Hair sedge was invented by Al Troth in Pennsylvania in the 1950's, it was designed to imitate the adult sedge, the wing shape causes the water disturbance to mimic that of a scurrying adult sedge, it comes into its own in July and August and has also been very effective during the evening rise when a lot of sedge are present.
